MSP430F5508 BSL programming using Com port

Hi every body,

I am Chetan.S.L, working on MSP430F5508. I don't have JTAG debugger(FET debugger) for this to program. Hence I am using Com port to program this controller. I am not able to program this controller using FET Pro430 which is being provided by the ti. Can any one help me in doing this....??? All BSL necessary connection are done according to the document SLA319b.

Hi,

the MSP430F5508 has per default USB BSL on chip. Unless you flash the UART BSL into the device, you can't work with UART to update the firmware on MSP430F5508.

Hi,

you can download the SLAA450B associated files here:

http://software-dl.ti.com/msp430/msp430_public_sw/mcu/msp430/CustomBSL/latest/index_FDS.html, and then compiled the Custom_BSL_Zip_File\5xx_6xx_BSL_Source\MSP430F552x_TA_UART project using IAR kickstart: http://www.ti.com/tool/iar-kickstart. Don't forget to make sure that the access to the BSL memory is enabled: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MSP430_FAQ#How_to_enable_the_access_to_BSL_Flash_memory_in_MSP430F5xx.2F6xx_devices_.3F
