ID Problem for MSP430G2232

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2232

Hi,

In documentation slau320f.pdf ID for MSP430G2232 is F201h, but I read from device ID = 2452h. Why?

What ID is correct for MSP430G2232?

thanks

  • Hi Jan,

    I think that the correct ID for MSP430G2232 is ID = 2452h like you are seeing, but I will check with our team here to get you a more definitive answer.

    I took a look at the table in SLAU320 and I see this could be confusing since it has different table entries for both G2x3x and G2xx2 and therefore it would be hard for you to know which line applies to the G2232. I'm going to try to see if there is a way we can improve this table to make it clearer.

    Regards,

    Katie

  • Hi,

    thank you for information

    In slau320 documentation

    G2x0x,G2x1x = F201h

    G2x2x,G2x3x = F201h

    G2xx2            =  2553h

    G2xx3            =  2452h

    ID code 2452h is for G2xx3, but I have G2232 (last number is 2, not 3)

    thanks

  • Hi Jan,

    Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The documentation has a mistake in it - the device ID for G2xx2 is 2452h and the device ID for G2xx3 is 2553h. This makes logical sense because the G2452 is a G2xx2 part and the G2553 is a G2xx3 part. I've already been talking to the folks who maintain slau320 to get this corrected in the next release of the documentation, and we are also working on making the lines in that table about G2x2x,G2x3x clearer too.

    Sorry for the confusion this may have caused, I hope this helps to clear things up. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!

    Regards,

    Katie

    Possibly a typo in teh table. It doesn't make much sense to have the 2xx3 have a 2xx2 ID and the 2xx2 have a 2xx3 ID. But well, who knows...

    After all, if you have a device where the label says G2232 and the ID read is 2452 (and not something completely different), well, go for it. I'm pretty sure you don't have a fake 2553 in your 2232 case. ;)
