MSP430FR5724 Debug Error with MSP-FET430UIF

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR5724, MSP430FW425

Good afternoon,   The consultation relates to a problem with the useful deduggear "MSP-FET430UIF" microcontroller "MSP430FR5724" The environment used is the "Code Composer Studio Version: 5.1.1.00031" and the leading compiler of Texas. If you use the IAR environment the same problem occurs.

1) With a microcontroller PCB that has the "MSP430FW425" is everything OK.

2) Using a microcontroller PCB that has the "MSP430FR5724" proffers no deduggear, gives the error:

Error connecting to the target: Unknown device

PCBs are similar using the same pin JTAG. - PJ.0 / TD0 - PJ.1 / TDI - PJ.2 / TMS - PJ.3 / TCK - RST / NMI

NOTE: The firmware of "MSP-FET430UIF" is updated.   I would like to know what can be the problem or attack???

regards, Jose Miguel

  • It's possible that for the FR5724, the default project settings use SBW protocol (which the FW425 doesn't know at all). For SBW, only RST and TEST pin are required. However, this mode is very sensitive to line capacitance. The pulldown capacitor on RST may influence the SBW signals too much for a reliable connection.

Check the project settings to force the 4-wire JTAG protocol.
