MSP430F2616 interfaced with GPS and GPRS modules

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F2616

Hi,

I've been considering the MSP430F2616 for a project mainly because it has the two UART modules I need to interface with my GPS and GPRS modules. I intend to program it with the MSP430 64 pin target board but I am not so certain of what I need to do for a more permanent solution. I'd like a custom PCB with the F2616 and connectors for the GPS and GPRS modules.

My question: what passive components of the target board need to be in the custom PCB, if any?

Thanks in advance

Erick

That is a application-specific question, that is based on the unique requirements of your custom solution.

However, in general, you need bypass capacitors on your Vcc lines. You may or may not need pullup and pulldown resistors on I/O lines (that depends on requirements of ICs you attach to MSP).
