  • Hi Thomas,

I am interested in that device (F5528) too and started to work with F5529 for now.

How about samples. Will they be available earlier by any chance.

  • Les,

     Thanks for that answer.

With a shortage of silicon devices, what is the prognosis on TI side?

Is it here to stay or can we expected some improvements in availability?

    Les,

How do we get our hands on them?  We require 5 samples with or without the dev board (MSP-TS430PN80USB).  My normal channels don't seem to know what is going on and I am concerned that we will miss out.  We are developing an RFID tagging system and have a tight schedule for development (Need samples within the next two weeks).

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew.

  • Anyone needing 1-5 samples of MSP430F5529 who has a pending samples request on Ti.com should began receiving thoses units later this week. New request for small qauntieis will be supported as well by placeing  it at TI.COM or   http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/msp430f5529.html  under XMS430F5529iPN  (or search F5529).

The taget boards will follow by one week and include two samples in the same box.

    Regards,

    Les

  • Les,

We still have not received samples of the MSP430F5529 and the target boards.  Is there a delay?

    Cheers,

    Andrew.

  • Hi Andrew,

have you placed an order for the MSP-TS430PN80USB on the TI eStore? The product information page says it usually ships in 24 to 48 hours. And, as mentioned above, each box contains two pieces of preview F5529 devices.

Here's the link to the eStore product page: http://www.ti-estore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MSP-TS430PN80USB

  • HiaBUGSworstnightmare,

What you guess can be correct, but under the sample history it is written delivery date 12 May 2010, so your quess is as good as anyone's else.

There are people however (TI guys, not you and me) who know the answer.

  • Hi Les,

Looks like there is a change again.

My sample request for msp430F5529 has been cancelled after months of waiting.

As my target device is msp430F5528, maybe I will have more luck with it as both 5528 and 5529 are advertise now as ACTIVE

I like the USB part of it, otherwise I would switch to another MSP430 or EFM32 or maybe I should do it (and put an extra USB chip).

It is a World Wide Wait approach now and everyone is advertising thing as available months or years ahead, so

it is a good lesson and a good test for patience.

  • Hi,

Can I know the current state of MSP430F5528IRGC for mass purchasing coz its out of stock in most places.

    Thanks.

    Amiller

  • The MSP430F552x devices are all now production released. However they were released with limited initial inventory on hand. Additional inventory will be in place to support sample request as well as production orders mid to late June.  Also there are still several variants of this part in BGA, QFN and QFP packages available for 1-5 units sample request at http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/msp430f5529.html#samples or WWW.ti.com/msp430

  • Thanks for the reply. After evaluating the range of MSP430 s i was considering using msp430f5528 for a new design. But considering the stock status and product maturity i do not think its a viable option given the product delivery plans. So i'm considering of alternatives specially msp430f5418 and msp430f2418. I would like to know the product maturity and stock status of these two controllers since i want to commit my self into a controller with stable stock. I would be greatfull if you can brief me on these issues.

    Thanks a lot,

    Amiller.

  • Thanks,

The MSP430F5528 is production released and an excellent choice for new designs.  With standard lead times being considered, all device listed can meet any mass production volume requirements just as well as the more mature MSP430F2418. Previously schedule production orders are being shipped daily on all.

    Regards,

    MSP430
