lcd ghosting on msp430f412 but not on msp430f4132

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F412, MSP430F4132

I'm ready to design my first production product with msp430f412 but still unable to get rid of the lcd ghosting and it's not because of the lcd, the back plane signal is awful, with and without lcd on board, but tried msp430f3142 and check the signal it's spot-on, running with coin cell lithium battery at 3V

what I'm doing wrong

  • samples_4132.TIFsample_412.TIFgood morning everyone
question, has anyone design msp430F412 component with LCD mux4 and was it successful, thanks for your time

  • Hello James George,

Without knowing more about your LCD setup, the main issue I see here for you is that the LCD modules are different from MSP430F412 and MSP430F4132. The MSP430F4132 is the more recent of the two and has the LCD_A module which includes additional features (including internal regulated charge pump/contrast control and LCD Bias Generator) and works differently than the LCD Module contained within the older MSP430F412. How these modules are programmed, biased, and what external components are needed to operate are different. I encourage you to read up on these different modules within the MSP430Fx4xx Family User Guide. Please remember the F412 has the LCD Controller Module and the F4132 has the LCD_A Controller Module. Also for additional information on how to utilize the LCD modules effectively, please see the following application notes:
