Hi TI,

I need a micro controller that suits following requirements possibly in 16 bit MSP430 family. I am also open to other families of TI.

1. Min. 4 UARTs (Better if 5)

2. USB PHY (Should be configurable as USB Host)

3. 512 kb of Flash memory

4. RTC

5. Package: Leaded / QFP variant

6. Cost < 4 USD

MSP430F5xx/6xx can be used only as USB device, not as USB host.

MSP430F5438A seems a good option to me. Just it is lacking USB host function. Also the Flash is 256kb. I wish I can get something having 512kb.

Any other controller to match my needs.

No MSP has more than 4 UARTs and no MSP has 4 UARTs and USB together. However, you may be able to implement another software (timer) generated UART, if the baudrate isn't too high.
There is also an implementation of an USB 'controller ' in software somewhere, but it is very limited. And of course no host functionality.
But even if there were a device with all this, I doubt you'll get all this for less than $4 then.

Microcontroller "Unobtainium" would have such price tag.

If we look at the problem realistically, then this and similar Tiva-C meets specs:

Nor on 123 series that can approach that tag price is nothing with more than 256K flash....

Unobtanium is forever the answer also from competitor... Or add some other chip to MSP430 to have OTG but I fear target price is just impossible.

It's very rare,
but I can see still ONE product ($3.65 @ 5k pricing), which satisfies all of his requirements, from M company.

Don't forget to be carful when comparing memory size from one architecture to another. MSP430 is 16bit. ARM is 32bit. This makes a big difference when comparing kbytes. But in Tiva C-Series you get a C-funtion ROM for free, which can greatly reduce the FLASH-footprint of your Firmware. (MCUs from "M"- company are often found in between = 24Bit per Instruction) check this.

Matthias, every answer to this thread can be with sense of humour, it is necessary because no complete description was from primary post, no volume production, so 4US$ is an impossible but @1M pcs can be TIVA is less expensive, no reason was in place for a so large flash, it is code or data? Can be stored on external device?

Speed of uart?

Too many missing details then no precise answer can fit so vague request.

Tiva-C is Cortex-M ARM microcontroller meaning 16-bit Thumb instructions.
