Using MSP-Fet with IAR - unknown device error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-TS430RGC64C, MSP-FET, MSP430F5255, MSP430F5229

Hi

I've purchase MSP-FET and MSP-TS430RGC64C. I'm working with IAR version 6.30.1. I build a project. When I try to do download a debug I receive the following error message – Fatal error: could not find device (or device not supported) Session aborted. I'm using MSP430F5255. JP3 is set to VCC int. I don't know what to do

Thanks

Shmuel

  • Hi Shmuel,

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I think that the MSP-TS430RGC64C board typically ships with a couple of MSP430F5229 devices - if you have these, could you try loading a sample code into one of them with all of the same setup/connections on the board, to see if you get the same issue?

Have you made sure that the device is oriented in the correct direction in the socket? The small dot on the corner of the device should line up with the pin marked 1 on the edge of the target board.

Have you made sure that the device is seated well in the socket?

Finally, you could also try to see if you can get code to load with something besides IAR as a test - like the MSP430Flasher software, or free CCS cloud (http:\\dev.ti.com )

    Regards,
    Katie
  • Hi Shmuel,

Did you have any luck with this? Are you able to program your part now, or do you still need some help?

    Regards,
    Katie
