Is MSP430F5252 drop in replaceable to MSP430F5229

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5252, MSP430F5229

I would like to know if I can simply replace MSP430F5229 by MSP430F5252? I will need to have more RAM for my project.

  • >simply replace

It is not a simple answer for just anybody to be able to answer for you, for we do not know anything about your system application.

For starters, the two parts differ in the number of USCI modules and the ADC module is different. You will need to analyze the differences in the parts with respect to the needs of your application.

I'm sure that you can refer to pinout diagrams of the two devices and compare those to know if they are otherwise pin compatible. It is a simple exercise and I'm not inclined to do that for you.

  • No, F5252 is not the same nor a replacement for F5229.

There are many companies that make the same product and put on different part numbers so that the retailer can sale them at different prices. I have not seen TI doing that (yet).
  • Hi Brain,

Thanks a lot for quick answer, I guess I will have to take my time to do the porting. I was hoping some one did it already and can have a quick answer.

  • Thanks a lot! I will go back to read datasheet. No shortcut I guess.
