Unused LCDCAP pin in MSP430F47127

My customers use the MSP430F47127.

In LCD_A of MSP430F47127, when the charge pump is enabled, you will need to
connect the capacitor to LCDCAP pin.
If at the charge pump is not enabled, can I How LCDCAP pin?
Regards,
  • The user's guide does not mention this pin in the table about the recommended connection of unused pins. I would leave it open.
  • When you don't want to use LCDCAP in LCD of F5/F6x_B, it's connected with VSS.

Should F47147 also connect LCDCAP to VSS?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Da!

Yes, you're right, the User's Guide for the MSP430x5xx and MSP430x6xx tells you to tie LCDCAP to DVss if not used. The datasheet (took the one from the MSP430F6779) also warns you to not leave it open. But the User's Guide also mentions a CPCAP (charge pump capacitor) that shall be left open if not used. I agree that this is a little bit confusing. On the other hand I think that TI would have placed this warning in datasheet of the MSP430F47127 as well if it would be required. Possible that the hardware module works different. Did you look at another datasheet of the MSP430x4xx family?

Maybe there is one from TI that can gather this information.

  • HI Dennis

In addition, do you know what I this damage?
