CapTIvate: about TIDM-CAPTIVATE-MSP432

Hello, TI Experts,

 

I got CAPTIVATE-MSP432 Software(tidcco2.zip) from http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-CAPTIVATE-MSP432  .

But importing(project->import CCS project)  "CAPTIVATE-FR2633_PHONE_UART_Demo" to CCS failed with Error as follows;

  Error: Import failed for project 'CAPTIVATE-FR2633_PHONE_UART_Demo' because its compiler

  definition is not available. Please install the MSP430v16.3 compiler before importing this project

  - click 'View > CCS App Center' to check if compiler updates are available, or install the compiler

  manually and register it with CCS through 'Preferences > CCS > Build > Compilers'.

 

I checked CCS version as follows;

  CCS:Version: 6.1.3.00033

  MSP430 Compiler Tools        16.9.0

 

Do you have same experience ?

I would appreciate if you tell us how to solve this issue.

    Hello Matusan,

    you will need to install the older compiler for the project to work. After which, you can try to update to the newer compiler for the project. To do this in CCS, navigate to Help -> Install new software . The top drop down select " Code Generation Tools Updates". At the bottom of the window, uncheck "Show only the latest version of available software". This should show the released compiler versions and you can install the one you need.

    I really appreciate your help.

    "CAPTIVATE-FR2633_PHONE_UART_Demo" can be imported to CCS with your advice.

     

    Now I continue to work with TIDM-CAPTIVATE-MSP432.

    And I have another problem as follows;

      -If I use MSP-EXP432P401R EVM(Rev2.0:Red board),  BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1 doesn't work properly.

        (no button & slider drawing on LCD, just LED backlighting only) 

      -If I change the EVM to MSP-EXP432P401R EVM(Rev1.0:Black board),  BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1 works properly.

       ( button & slider drawing show up)

     

    Our customer uses MSP-EXP432P401R EVM(Rev2.0:Red board).

    So, I would appreciate if you tell us how to solve this issue.

    How do I fix CAPTIVATE-MSP432 Software(tidcco2.zip) ?

    Hello,

    Yes, I had a little progress.

    LCD Driver seems not to work properly.
    So, I replaced LCD Driver with new one.
    For reference, I will show the place of "LCD Drive folder" in my PC as below.
    C:\ti\msp\MSP432Ware_3_50_00_02\grlib\examples\MSP-EXP432P401R_GrlibExample\LcdDriver

    Result is as follows;
    - I found button & slider icon drawing on LCD. (Good!)
    - But those icon drawing speed is slower. (NG!)
    (It takes about 5 sec to finish drawing all icons on the LCD.)

    I would appreciate if someone tell us how to improve the "icon drawing speed".

    I aslo would like to improve the "icon drawing speed". Let us know if the sample code Cameron sent improves the speed.

    Thank you for kindly providing the preliminary code by email.

    I really appreciate your help.

     

    I found the icon drawing speed improvement.

    (It takes about 1.5 sec to finish drawing same as the Rev1.0 Black-EVM.)

     

    And I would like to send some feedback as follows;

      - CCS (version 6.1.3.00033) : Build succeed.

      - CCS-Cloud (version 1.6.0)  : Build Failed.

     

    I would appreciate if you update CAPTIVATE-MSP432 Software(tidcco2.zip) and

    take care of this CCS-Cloud build problem.

    I really appreciate your help.
    I can download the file "tidcco2a.zip" and found the icon drawing speed improvement with the MSP-EXP432P401R EVM(Rev2.0:Red board) as I expected.

    I can build the project by CCS7.0.
    (CCS-Cloud build problem seems to still exist...)
