DIP COnnection for F2013

Hi all I am newbie in MSP430 i have a DIP for MSP430f2013 and i want to connect it on a bread board can someone help me on this,

    To make the F2013 work you only need a few signals; if I recall correctly you need a 2.5-3.3 VDC power supply positive, power supply ground, and to add the appropriate level jumpers to the TEST and RST lines so that the part will not inappropriately enter test or reset mode.


    Other than that, it will work and do whatever you've programmet it to do, assuming that your software configuration doesn't require additional peripherals like an external  crystal oscillator or LED or whatever.

     

    The schematics for the launchpad and ez430-F2013 and 14 pin target boards all show you how to hook up a similar F2013 or related model IC, and the data sheet and users manual for the 2XX series chips give you all the information as to how to connect it and use the peripherals and pins.

    If you correct for the DIP pinout versus the pinout of the surface mount package used on the EZ430-F2013 board, you could connect it in an exactly similar way.  The Launchpad board's DIP socket could take a F2013, as also could the generic 14 pin target board.  There is nothing 'special' about the chip that makes it difficult to connect to a breadboard.  Other than the four signals I mentioned above almost all of the other pins are able to be connected as either inputs or outputs or peripheral related function pins, so it is very arbitrary according to your program and design as to how you use the particular pins.

    You should probably get a Launchpad kit so you can program the MSP430 DIP IC as well as easily test your software.
