MSP430FR5870: How to prevent Info memory from erraneous write access

Part Number: MSP430FR5870

Hi champs,

customer wants to store user application dependent information into INFO memory.

He found, that MPU is not able to prevent INFO memory from write access.

Q: Any idea to lock the memory as putting customer information into FRAM,which is MPU accessible ?

  • Hi DJ-NG,

The information memory segments have selectable write access rights through the MPUSEGxWE bit, whose register is further protected by the MPU password, thereby protecting it from erraneous writes. The customer will need to clarify what exactly they are trying to accomplish, if attempting to prevent unintentionally erasure/overwrite from the JTAG/SBW/BSL programming interface then they will need to password-protect or lock them accordingly.

    Regards,
    Ryan
