MSP430F5325: Uboot From RAM using Teraterm

Part Number: MSP430F5325
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

I am working with the MSP430F5325 using teraterm to communicate .  I used the MSP430 dongle to program the chip and am now trying to manually write U-Boot to the RAM to get it to bootup.  With the "CCC..." streaming I have tried using teraterm to Send the File bit stream and to transfer the file via kermit through a serial port to the unit, but nothing seems to work.  What am I missing?  Is there a software tool that would make this easier?

  • Hello Chris,

Thank you for your post and providing the specific part number.

When you say "MSP430 dongle", do you mean that you programmed the MSP430F5325 device using an emulator like the MSP-FET via JTAG or SBW? With regards to U-Boot, this sounds like something related to booting up an application processor (e.g. ARM core) that's running Linux instead of starting up a microcontroller.

Can you talk more about what your program does and what you're trying to do over the terminal? Are you trying to pass data over the UART interface or trying to program the device over the UART interface instead of the typical JTAG interface?
