MSP430F2002: migrating to F2002 from G2131

Part Number: MSP430F2002

Hi everybody ,

please I have a product  with pcb  working and in production  using MSP430G2131IRSA16R   .

now  I need  this product to be able to work up to 105 degrees celsius ,  keeping same pcb and ideally same sw .

for the micro  I am moving to  MSP430F2002TRSA   so some questions :

1- as far as I see it should be   a pin2pin  drop in  no issue at all :  do you see anything special to consider ?

2- about SW   do you have any indication / suggestion  apart from changing headers ?

any suggestion is very welcome to speed up the process .

thank you

bye

Carlo

  • The hardware is essentially identical. The F2002's parameters are specified (i.e., tested) over a larger range.

The only software-visible difference is that the F2002 has more calibrated DCO frequencies. But G2131 software would not notice this.
(Strictly speaking, you would not even need to change the headers; a diff shows their contents are indeed mostly the same.)

  • Hi Carlo,

These parts are VERY similar. I think it should be very easy to drop in MSP430F2002. I would recommend changing the header file and building the project for the MSP430F2002 part number, but I would expect everything to probably build just fine without having to change source code in any significant way.

    Regards,
    Katie
