MSP430I2030: ADC24 offset

Part Number: MSP430I2030
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F423, MSP430F6779A

I'm using the ADC24 from MSP430i2030. How could I get the offset values from the ADCs?

I will replace the MSP430F423 µC. At this µC you could short the ADC Inputs to get the ADC offset.

With MSP430i2030 you don't have this opportunity. I hope someone could answer my question.

  • Hello Wolfgang,

Thank you for your post. Unfortunately, the MSP430i2030 does not allow you to short the SD ADC inputs together internally like the MSP430F423. Thus, to measure the internal offset, you'll have to short the inputs together externally. Then, this offset would be used as a correction factor to adjust the conversions accordingly. The datasheet of the MSP430i2030 does include maximums for both Gain (EG) and Offset (EOS) errors in Table 5-22.

Other more advanced devices like the MSP430F6779A feature a calibration mode (enabled by the SD24CAL bit) which allows the offset of the SD ADC modulator and programmable gain amplifier (PGA) to be measured internally.

    Hopefully this helps!

    Regards,

    James
