MSP430FR5994: How to overcome Error 98: Device database not loaded in when using MSPDebugStack?

What are your libmsp430.so and OS versions, and what type of FET is being used? I will loop in the MSPDS authors for their comments on the matter.

I am using Raspnian stretch and libmsp430.so version 3 on Raspberry pi 3 Model B . Also, I have used mspdebug using 'mspdebug tilib' and it works fine on my pi.

Thank you Ryan for your reply .I did not have access to my device before. The exact specs are as follows:
OS: Linux raspberrypi 4.9.41-v7+ on Raspberry pi Model B.
libmsp430.so version: MSP430.dll v3.3.1.4
Since I am using the launchpad kit for MSP430FR5994 I'm working with the on-board ez-FET.( www.ti.com/.../msp-exp430fr5994)

I also looked at issues that you shared. My problem is similar to theirs. Only difference is I tried using code from the following link to initiate the device instead of connecting through mspdebug command line.
I am trying to reuse the code provided in : github.com/.../energytrace-util.git , and use energy trace technology independently.

BTW, Raspberry Pi can be used in combination with mspdebug as standalone JTAG / SBW master device without any TI software / hardware.

I was checking the syntax for calling MSP430_LoadDeviceDb() and requires file name of zip archive which has all device info required. Where do I find this file and how do I add it?

Also, MSP Debug Stack Developers Guide is available on-line on TI website www.ti.com/.../slau656 . Is the same guide applicable for MSPDS open-source package?

The parameter for MSP430_LoadDeviceDb is optional. If you provide a concrete file then the file will be used for the device database. If you provide the function with NULL the internal device DB will be loaded. The internal device db contains all the supported devices and is probably what you will want to use.

Yes, SLAU656 is also applicable for the open-source package. In future revisions users won’t have to use MSP430_LoadDeviceDb in the app code. as it will be done automatically by the dll code.
