Hi, I'm using msp430f6779 for my fyp but I'm not sure about the connections from the power supply to smart to resistive load

And I would like to ask what are the positive and negative current for?

resistive load C03301-3F

    Are you using the EVM430-F6779? First, I would suggest reading through the user's guide for this EVM (specifically Section 5.1.1). If your three phase power supply can provide RMS voltage and RMS current separately, the connections are different. Essentially, you want the current for each phase to flow through one of the Current Transformers (CTs).

  • If RMS voltage and RMS current are supplied independently, please make sure the sliders shown in Figure 14 are open (slid to the right) on all phases. If they are NOT supplied independently, you'll need to unscrew the screw and slide them to the left. These sliders are used to configure the inputs to the RMS voltage channels correctly.

  • Sure, you could connect the UART RX/TX lines to the Arduino. You'll just need to be mindful of the High Voltage danger here. The RS232 connection is isolated to allow your PC to be connected safely. If you can connect the Arduino to the EVM430-F6736 and isolate them both (e.g. locked box, dedicated test chamber, etc.) when connected to High Voltage, the Arduino could connect to the cloud or your PC wirelessly which would be safe. If direct connection is required, you'll need to look into isolators.

    Please take a look at the TIDM-TWOPHASEMETER-I2040 TI Design. This design features a MSP430I2040 as the analog front-end with a MSP430F6638 as the host MCU. You'll notice that there are isolators, specifically ISO7220A and/or ISO7221A, used between the two MCUs. This should help you better understand how isolators work. You can click the ISO part numbers as well to access their datasheets for more information about the isolators.
