MSP430F425: Can I debug/program MSP430F425 using emulator available on Launchpad for MSP430G2253?

I am trying to figure out how to connect my MSP430F425 target board with MSP430G2253 launchpad to debug and program. Please help by sharing a schematic.

please have a look at the MSP430 LaunchPad Value Line Development kit web page and download the MSP-EXP430G2 Hardware Design Files.

This should provide the information you need.

Hi Britta,

Thanks for the reply.
I have looked at the documents suggested by you but am still unable to understand what pins from the launchpad to connect to target microcontroller to be able to debug/flash it. Please help.

Hi Parag,

You can [Edit]not connect the target board to MSp430G2253 launchpad via 4 Wire JTAG protocol.

[Edit] Zrno is right. launchpad does not support 4 wire JTAG. So it can not be connected with MSP430F425.

MSP430F425 is with JTAG interface only, not SBW, so it can not be used with any of TI LP's (they supports SBW only).

It can be flashed by BSL, where G2 LP can be used as BSL hardware (based on slaa535 Launchpad-Based MSP430 UART BSL Interface).
