MSP430F235: MSP430F235 application questions

Part Number: MSP430F235

Hi Team,

My customer is using MSP430F235, but with some questions want to double confirm, thanks for your support.

1. if they didn't set the SVSCTL, what will be the default brownout voltage?

2. Where can customer set proper SVSCTL? And how to set the SVSCTL by software?

3. Where can customer read out the SVSCTL value? Can it be read out from IAR register?

4. With proper Brownout configuration, will it be more safe for reset time during power up and power down?

Best regards,

Sulyn

  • Hello Sulyn,

Please check the datasheet for default brown out voltage. this can be found on the section title POR and Brownout Reset (BOR) table. BOR voltage does not change with SVS settings. More explanation of BOR can be found in Figure 9 of the datasheet as well.

For default setting sof register after coming up on a reset, please check the User Guide for your device, navigate to the section that discusses your peripheral in question, then navigate to the register definitions. In this particular case Section 9.3.1. From here you can see the SVS is off by default and is not active until the application changes this setting, typically during initial setup of the device. This can also be seen in the datasheet in Figure 12.

All registers can of course be viewed in an IDE while debugging.

For the purpose of the SVS, please see section 9.2 in the User Guide.
