MSP430F2122: NOT ABLE TO PROGRAM with MSP-FET430IF or USE JTAG with MSP430F2122IPW.

Part Number: MSP430F2122
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F1232, MSP430F2234

1) I have couple of older UIF's.   (MSP-FET430UIF  V 1.4A)

2) I have updated the firmware.

3) I can use them  to program and debug  successfully  (with breakpoints)  the MSP430F2234 and MSP430F1232 and others on other projects.

4) For frustrating reasons, this 2122 will NOT play the game.
5) I have tried a new chip.
6) Double and triple checked all my JTAG connections.
7) YES.... the JTAG connect "IS" connected to Reset on the board.  (But there is no H/W part loaded for that purpose.)  (Does the JTAG 'need' a compatible Reset cct on board to work?)

8) I have zero other components on this bare board except the VCC decoupling.

10) Yes, I've read the various threads claiming to have resolved the issue. (but only enabled a programming of the chip in the TI target board, not on a real world one)

All similar experience and solutions welcome.
The outcome I'm looking for is   "YES!.. we can program and debug with the 4 wire JTAG and THIS is how it's done"

Over to you community.
Julian
