Is it possible to set XT2 in HF mode a little bit higher than specified 16.0MHz?

16.384 MHz will completely meet my requirements and will make me extremelly happy.

    Hi Sebastian,

    we specify a maximum XT2 crystal oscillator frequency of 16.0 MHz. Exceeding the maximum recommended operating condition can cause harm to the part, insert issues or decrease device lifetime. Therefor our recommendation is to follow the DS specification.

    In case you require a higher frequency I'd suggest to look at a different MSP430 device family, we have several devices where we allow XT2 crystal oscillator frequencies up to 32 MHz for example.
