Hi
I'm having problems with a product that was returned by a customer.
I have 2 microprocessors: 1 MSP430F449 and an ST-chip. The problem is in the serial communication between these microprocessors. The protocol between them is a simple ASCII protocol at 9600 baud with 8 databits, 1 stop bit and even parity.
Here are my observations on the item from the customer:
- I can see, that during communication 1 or 2 characters received on the MSP are missing.
- I've measured with a scope that the ST-chip sends the message correctly, but the MSP apparently doesn't receive the complete message.
- This happens about 50% of the time, but not in any particular pattern. Sometimes I don't see the problem for up to 8 communications.
- The UART doesn't report any framing, parity or overflow errors.
- I've only seen this problem on this one item out of several thousands.
Is this a known problem and if so: what's the workaround?
