MSP430FR2110: D cannot be find

Part Number: MSP430FR2110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET,

HI Sir

    Use MSP-FET. The chip MSP430FR2110 cannot be find Spy-Bi-Wire (2-wire JTAG) debug protocols.Use IAR7.12 and MSP430 flasher.

  • Hello Lei,
could you please try connecting to the device by CCS or IAR? Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards
    Peter
  • IAR have be tried (IAR7.12), I think you should look at my question carefully.
  • Hello Lei,
my apologies for not having understood your clear explanations. Could you please provide us a little bit more information on the setup, in which you're trying connecting to the device? Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards
    Peter
  • Hello Lei,
could you please give us a status update on this problem, and let us know whether you still need support in this case?
We have understood, you're not able to connect to the device. But as there are many HW and SW related potential root causes, which could result in such a problem, we need more information, if you would like us making further suggestions to solution. Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards
    Peter
  • May I get your Email .Send some pictures to you. And CCS also be tried.
  • Hello Lei,

if you would like to share some non-public information with us, there is a way to do so in the forum. Please send me a friendship request. Then you can send me private messages with non-public content.

Upfront some additional indications on what could help us resolving the issue:

    - supply of the device to be programmed

    - schematics of the setup, if not used with the original target board from TI

    - length of cable connections (probably visible from the pictures you intend to provide

    - is it just one unit, which is failing to connect, or have you tried multiple with the same result?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Peter

  • Sending pictures on BBS is not convenient. So I think e-mail better.
  • Use MSP430-FET get from TI . The Device is MSP430F2110 sample from TI.
  • Hello Lei,
many thanks for the additional information. I see from the screen shot, you have selected manual debug interface to Spy-Bi-Wire, instead of the default automatic detection.
Have you set the jumpers on the used target board accordingly, means to Spy-Bi Wire instead of JTAG?
Have you tried accessing the device via JTAG interface?
Are the power jumpers on the target board set correctly?
Did you measure the voltage at the supply pins of the MSP430?
Could you please measure the current consumption of the device?
Is it just one sample, or have you tried multiple samples?

In terms of the sharing of photos, as stated, if you get connected to me via the E2E environment as friend, you can share any information privately with me, not visible to others in the forum. That's what we can offer you, if the privacy of the data you want to share with us, is the concern.

    Best regards
    Peter
  • Hi Lei,

In addition to Peter's questions above, can you confirm that your connections look as the picture below?

Do you have any differences in any of the connections or components?

It seems like they are using their own board, but do you or the customer have any target board or Launchpad? If so, have you tried connecting the MSP-FET to those boards?

Have you used the MSP-FET with any other boards/devices to make sure it works?

    Regards,

    Luis R

  • Hi Lei,

May I know if the issue has been solved since no more feedback from you for some days.

It maybe help if you can share with us the circuit on SBW, especially the capacitor value on RST pin.

    regards
    KC
