MSP430F1121: By MSP-FET430UIF able to program but with MSP-FET Flash Emulation Tool(Black plastic body) not

Dear Ling,

I am also able to program it through MSP-FET430UIF but not with MSP-FET Flash Emulation Tool when I powered my target device through programmer only.

And when I powered up target device through external 3.3 v power supply than it program through both. So my question is why not able to program with MSP-FET Flash Emulation Tool when powered it through programmer.

I know in photo you used same programmer and given power supply to target through programmer only. And you able to program it. But in my case why it is different?

I am not sure what's the difference. Could you try another F1121A or another board?

Hi Ling,

Today I tried with another F1121A board and on Uniflash software first it gives error Unknown device and give retry or cancel option than I selected retry so it programmed ic successfully. Than I tried once again same board than it gives continuously same error of Unknown device and on selecting retry option same error comes. Why it behave like this?

I tried with another software tool Fet-Pro430 in that it perfectly working. Never giving error.

Please reply why in Uniflash tool with MSP-FET Flash Emulation Tool giving error "Unknown device" and same in uniflash when I tried with MSP-FET430UIF it won't give any error.

Also in FET-Pro430 never gives any error with both debugger hardware tool. So is it Uniflash tool support MSP-FET430UIF and Fet-Pro430 is supporting both MSP-FET Flash Emulation Tool & MSP-FET430UIF ?

A few questions for you:

1. Which version of Uniflash SW are you using?
2. What is the serial number of the MSP-FET?
3. Are you using TS board and cable (as in the photo) or do you use own HW and JTAG cable (maybe longer wires?)?

3. HW is my own designed board and JTAG cable length is 5 inch
