MSP430G2432: How to connecting the micro-controller to breadboard and program it?

Hello

I have MSP430 micro-controller IC without the LaunchPad Development kit. So my questions are:

1 - What is the proper connection used to connect the IC to a breadboard and PCB and does it need a crystal oscillator to operate?

I mean, I only have to connect the VCC and the ground only or there is other pins need to be connected?

2 - Is it possible to program the MSP430 IC without the LaunchPad? for example using the breadboard and connect a usb port to it.

You should connect Vcc and Ground, and a decoupling capacitor between them. Then connect a 47K resistor from /Reset to Vcc. You don't need a crystal. The chip has an internal oscillator with calibrated settings for four clock rates from 1 MHz to 16 MHz.

But this part does not have bootloader code built in. So the only way to program it is with JTAG, which will require a Launchpad. The G2xx3 parts do have BSL, and there's an unofficial way to program them with BSL using a USB adapter. The G2553 is the most popular one.
