Hi,
I have a MSP-TS430PN80USB - MSP43055xx USB 80-Pin Target board.
Can I use above with out (JTAG) The MSP-FET430UIF flash emulation.
thanks

Hi Gamini,
well, I have bad news for you! You can't debug the MSP430F55xx on the MSP-TS430PN80USB without a tool! You need to use the MSP-FET430UIF or the eZ430U from a Chronos tool (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/ez430-chronos.html) for debugging the device.
In case of programming (you have an application at hands which you want to flash to the device) you can use the field firmware update software; find it here http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/msp430usbdevpack.html. This works without additional hardware.

You can also use the TI launchpad board to debug that.
However the USB BSL works pretty well. In IAR or CSS there is a switch you need to turn on that will make it output a TI text file. Then you use TI's USB BSL software and just select the file to load it onto the device.
Personally I have an Olimex JTAG Tiny and that also works well. I bought it through Sparkfun. If I didn't own one of those I would get the launchpad for a debugger though. It is probably easier to use for a debugger than the one that comes with the Chronos. (small custom pin-out)
You will need to look at the schematic for the board before you hook the launchpad or something else up. If you crossed the power wires something bad might happen. At least with my full JTAG its idiot proof and only goes in one way. lol
For the launchpad debugger you will need to move all of the jumpers next to the JTAG over to the other side for Spy-by-wire instead of regular JTAG, then hook up the right pins.
