MSP430F2012: User Guide for MSP430F2012

Part Number: MSP430F2012

Hello ....,
I would like to develop an I2C slave program suitable for a MSP430F2012.
I have a User Guide SLAU144i Revised January 2012. There is a newer User Guide Revised July 2013. This document is different in relation to I2C-Mode (Chapter 14 January 2012 compared with Chapter 17 July 2013). The Software-Examples also are not suitable for chapter "User Guide Revison July 2013, I2C-Mode". Is there a newer Release "MSP430F2012" with a newer I2C-Modul?
Regards Jurgen

  • Hello Juergen,
I am not sure what differences in the User's Guide and in the code examples you're referring to. Updates of our documentation are not necessarily related to silicon changes. Here the datasheets and errata sheets are the main documents to look at. A change of the silicon revision usually indicates changes related to the device itself. In the respective datasheet one can see an overview of the silicon revisions, including errata lists. The errata table indicates which silicon issues are present in which device revision.
In terms of the code examples in the TI Resource Explorer of CCS I cannot see any changes in the code examples related to the USI module since 2006. Please keep in mind, the MSP430F2012 does not have a full blown I2C module, as our USCI modules are, but only a module with reduced I2C functionality, which is called USI.
Looking into the latest errata sheet of the MSP430F2012 on our web page, there are since ever two USI errata. So there should be no change on the USI module.

    Best regards
    Peter
  • Hello Peter,
Thank you very much for your response. I have seen, in the User's Guide there are two Chapters, Chapter 14 USI I2C and Chapter 17 USCI also I2C. First, I have looked at the Chapter 17. And now I have found the correct Chapter 14 for USI.
    Best regards Juergen
