MSP430F5326: Is it possible to connect MSP430 agagin after erase the TI-BSL .

Part Number: MSP430F5326
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-GANG

Hi Ti guys,

In F5xx and F6xx serial,  a customer-BSL is supported. I want to know if I erase the TI-BSL, but fail to download a new BSL code , is it still possible to connect the MSP again with JTAG interface?

Or this MSP430 turn into a "brick" ,no way can bring it back?

B.R.

  • Hi SeaFesse,

The JTAG shouldn't be affected with any modification of BSL field.

    Hi Wei.Jetim,

Thanks for your reply , but  I'm not agree with you.

According to slaa450A, There 's a code named" boot code"(TI does not realse it ,but mentioned on user guider) who hold the right to decide run BSL code or Application code and even the JTAG/BSL KEY will take effect or not.

I post this thread because I can't connect(JTAG interface) MSPF5326  again after I erase the TI-BSL code with MSP-GANG.  and I want to know why and how to bring my poor MSP back :(.

  • With erased BSL (all valuesin BSL segments are  0FFFFh) on F5xx/6xx, JTAG / SBW connection will work just fine. However, device can be bricked by updating BSL by bad code (bad jmp table, protect function or fuse vale).
