MSP430F2619S-HT: uController functions and abilities

Part Number: MSP430F2619S-HT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278, ADS1274

Greetings,

My project will include control of 2 BLDC motors, processing data ( 4 to 5 sensors) and EEPROM memory control for data collection.

Could all these function be done by one MSP430F2619S-HT ( application for high temp environment).

Thank you,

Gadi Fishel

  • Timing is everything.

How quickly do you want the motors to react?

How many samples per second for the sensors?

How much data per second is going to the EEPROM?

How are the sensors going to connect to the MPU?

  • Greetings,

    It is really slow one.

Motors reaction could be with some delays. It will be sensorless BLDC motors and their function depending on Timer - "operate 10 second forward " or "operate 20 second forward" and of course reverse.

Samples per seconds also will be between 10 to 100 maximum ( I suppose 20 will be more than enough)

Regarding EEPROM I suppose to use Samsung MT29F128G08AJAAAWP-ITZ:A (

Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI) 1.0 compliant

    Device size: 16Gb: 4,096 blocks; 32Gb: 8,192 blocks; 64Gb: 16,384 blocks; 128Gb: 32,768 blocks;

    • READ performance
      • Random READ: 50µs
      • Sequential READ: 25ns
    • WRITE performance
      • PROGRAM PAGE: 900µs (TYP)
      • BLOCK ERASE: 3.5ms (TYP)

    )

Sensors... One of my thoughts that sensors' signal conditioning outputs will be connect to  ADS1278 ( or ADS1274) with SPI to uController.

2 PCB installed sensors : temperature and Accelerometer will connect directly to uController ADC ( 1 temp and 3 accelerometer access)

    Thank you,

  • Gadi,

It is uncertain if there are enough resources to implement your 2 motor controllers and sensors.

Here is a E2E discussing use of an MSP430 device for BLDC motor control.  In this case not sensorless.

These links may help you bound requirements for your project.

Note that the ceramic version of the MSP430F2619-HT is the 64 pin reduced pinout version.  P7 and P8 are not available.

    Wade

  • Wade,

    Thank you for advise.

I will check E2E BLDC motor control discussion.

    Sincerely,

    Gadi

  • You are welcome.

I am going to mark this post as resolved.  You can post back to it to re-open if necessary.
