MSP430F2416: msp430f2416

Part Number: MSP430F2416

Hi

We are using an msp430f2416 processor in our project i had loaded the bootloader firmware in to RAM. even after the  power recycle the bootloader firmware still retains on the RAM memory.

so i could not understand how the firmware retains even the processor does not have the FRAM . I have also attached the bootloader linker file below.

  • Hello,

I can think of 2 possible issues.  The first is that somehow, the code is being stored into Flash and then copied into RAM at start.  The second is that the RAM is retaining the data through your "power cycle"

The RAM is not initialized by default.  After a full power cycle, it can't be guaranteed that RAM retained the data and should mainly come up in a somewhat random state.  But, if there is residual charge on the board/MCU, it's possible that the code remains on the board.

Are you sure VCC is going all the way to 0V when power cycling?  Maybe short vcc and gnd after you've removed power to drain any residual voltage left on bypass caps, ect.

Let me know how that goes.

    Thanks,

    JD
