MSP-GANG: Check Fuse Status of MSP430F149

We have come across a situation where we are trying to tell if boards have had their security fuse blown or not. Is there a simple way to check the fuse status using the MSP-GANG programmer?

It seems like with boards that have the fuse blown we get an "Error 23: MCU device initialization failed" however we can also create this error by just not having the target connected to the programmer.

Hello,

MSP-GANG has no other error or warning for fuse status check. CCS has this warning.

So if I install Code Composer Studio I will be able to use that to check the fuse status of the device? Could you point me to some documentation on how to do that? Can I still use the MSP-GANG?

Assuming that works why is there no way for me to access the Fuse state without CCS? I would like to have this check performed by our production team and having them use CCS is less than ideal.

Hello,

If you try to debug or program devices have had their security fuse blown using CCS, then it will report a error as below. MSP-GANG can not be used in CCS. Since MSP-GANG is a third-party tool, I don't know why they don't point this error clearly.

Or maybe you can contact the MSP-GANG manufacturer elprotronic.com for more information.

Or you can use MSP430 Flasher and MSP-FET to check the fuse status.
