EVM430-FR6043: HW change and setup for water meter (TIDM-02005)?

Team,

The setup for the watermeter use case is described in http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-02005 .
The EVM430-FR6043 was modified following those guidelines.

Could you still please clarify the below:
a) Connecting transducer:
It’s no clear in the picture of this E2E post if :
one transducer signal must be connected at the J9 pins 3 and 4 (or only at the pin3) and the other at the J9 pins 9 and 10 (or only at the pin 9).
What is the correct way to connect the transducer?

b) It seems that the LCD board only work when the debugger is used. Is it correct?

c)The DNS channel have less amplitude than the UPS channel, See attached picture of the Ultrasonic Sensing Design Center program. When the connections of the transducers is changed it works the same way. Is it correct?

Is there some basic test code to run to assess that the board if working as expected and the HW change made are functioning accordingly?

Please see my comments below.

a. One transducer should be connected to J9, pin 1 and 3. The other transducer should be connected at J9, pin 9 and 11.

b. The LCD should work even when the debugger is not used. Are you using the latest firmware? It can be found below. Be sure you are using the Water Demo Application and choose the FR6043 project.

c. Assuming you have your pipe filled with water and zero flow, it is expected that both UPS and DNS signals should be near the same level. I do see that the receiver is oversaturated which may be part of the problem. You should reduce the gain from the configuration panel in the GUI until you have around 900-1000 ADC counts of the signal. Can you provide some details on what pipe and transducers you are using?

Hello,

I am using the latest fimware but the LCD only works with the debugger. I have reduced the gain but the DNS signal continues to be smaller than UPS signal. I am using the plastic DN15 pipe from Audiowell, it contains the 2 transducers.

Can you please provide your configuration as set in the GUI? From the configuration tab, please provide both parameters and advanced parameters.

Can you confirm that the pipe is completely filled with water? If you have a picture of your set up, that could be helpful too.

Yes, my pipe is completely filled with water and I use it with the transducers downwards to avoid air bubbles. I don't understand what is a "picture of your set up".

Your configuration looks okay, so I think this may be an issue with your hardware setup. A few things to check.

1. Check the cables and connectors from the transducer. You could use an ohm meter, and also visually inspect for bad connections or solder joints.

2. Check that the changes to R75, R80, R77, R78, R76, and R79 are correct and solder joints are good. Section 3.1.1.1.1 of the TI Design explains this.

3. A picture of your hardware set up may help me identify something that looks incorrect. If you could provide pictures of your pipe, connections on J9, and the R and C changes in item #2 above, I will take a look and see if anything looks incorrect.

Now, everything is OK, I was trying to improve my solder joints and I have seen that the R75 in the side close to the R76 was not OK. With the multimeter I haven't seen that.
