MSP430F5359: Does this MPS430 microprocessor have a "PJSEL" register?

Part Number: MSP430F5359

Folks:

Table 12-2 of SLAU208Q (June 2008–Revised March 2018), the MSP430x5xx and MSP430x6xx Family User's Guide documents the PJSEL I/O register for Port J:

But the device Data Sheet omits this particular register from the Port J register set:

I understand that the Family User's Guide is a superset document for all of the microprocessors in that family and that the Data Sheet for a specific MSP430 implementation always "controls" so I'm asking this just to get confirmation:

Is it really true that the MSP430F5359 DOES NOT contain a "PJSEL" register?

  • I guess that some devices from F5xx/6xx have peripheral on port J, and because of this there is PJSEL in family datasheet. There is no peripheral on port J of F5359 so there is no PJSEL (it can be used only as input / output, there is no special function to select) in device datasheet. JTAG function on port J is under master device control, device by itself can't do anything related to them.

  • The assertions above are correct, there is no peripheral selection feature for Port J of this device since its pins are solely shared with the JTAG function. Please refer to Sections 6.13.15 and 6.13.16 in the datasheet for more information regarding the block diagram for the port.

    Best regards,

  • Matt, Zrno:

Thank you both for your replies!
    I'll mark this "resolved" now.
