MSP430F417: GPIO default status

Part Number: MSP430F417

Hello e2e,

for MSP430F417, we can not find any info about GPIO input status description, since there is no internal pull up/down resistor in F417, we want to know that while the GPIO is configured as input, is it in floating status?

thanks in advance.

  • Hello Lei,

this is correct. The integrated switchable resistors at GPIOs have been introduced only in other MSP430 families, but not with the MSP430F4xx. This means in case the GPIOs are not switched to output direction or terminated by external components, they are floating. This might generate additional current consumption dependent on the voltage level at the floating GPIO up to ~200µA per GPIO as order of magnitude.

    Best regards

    Peter

  • Hi Peter,

Got it, thanks for your confirm.
