Hello,

I would like to ask you please about the possibility to measure single phase AC quantities or DC quantities using this design? 

With regard to the CT's and voltage dividers at the primary side, can one replace them with Hall effect sensors and contactless voltage clamps?

If not, is there some other equivalent design/IC's that can do that?

    This design can be used for single-phase AC measurements. For DC, the voltage divider can be used but the CTs would not work. You'd need to replace them with shunts or other non-transformer sensors.

    If you only need single-phase measurements, you may want to consider the TIDM-SERVER-PWR-MON reference design instead.

    The MCU may be able to support those sensors, but our software libraries (such as MSP-EM-DESIGN-CENTER) don't support them. You'd need to develop your own.

    Check out our electricity meter reference design diagram. You can find it by going to TI.com > Applications > Industrial > Grid Infrastructure > Smart Meters > Electricity Meter.

    Typically, there are two options for converting the AC mains voltage to lower DC voltage for powering the MCU. Option 1 includes an AC-to-DC flyback controller, and Option 2 features an AC-to-DC cap drop power supply. If you click on each option, you'll see various related products and reference designs show up on the right.

    The TIDM-3PHMTR-TAMP-ESD design includes a third option - an off-the-shelf integrated power supply (P/N VSK-S3-3R3U) that would reduce the effort and shorten the time it could take to implement a more discrete option. However, it'd probably be more expensive than designing Option 1 or 2. I think the AC mains voltage from Phase C powers that supply. The TIDM-3PHMTR-TAMP-ESD design also provides the option to use an on-board cap drop power supply that is supplied by the AC mains voltages from all phases.
