MSP432E411Y-BGAEVM: MSP432E411Y-BGAEVM Connect to PC Through USB

Part Number: MSP432E411Y-BGAEVM

I just got my new MSP432E411Y-BGAEVM board. I connect 5V and GND on J11 and connect the board to my desktop through USB 2.0 micro B cable. However, I can't find the device in the Device Manager. I downloaded CCS v10 and it shows no board detected. In addition, I checked the power on pin 1 and 5 of TPS2051B and it gives me 5 V readings, which indicates the supply of MCU and USB is on. The LED on the Ethernet port is on so I think the MCU is working correctly. I have tried several usb cables and desktops, but the board can't be detected by all of them. Can you please advise us? Thank you very much.

  • The MSP432E411Y-BGAEVM User's Guide says:

The preprogrammed quick start application on the EVM is an application that performs a self-test on the on board SDRAM by writing and reading back values in memory using the MSP432E411YEPI. The self-test blinks an LED to indicate that the test passes.

Therefore, I wouldn't expect the preprogrammed quick start application to cause the MSP432E411Y to enumerate on the onboard USB OTG connector.

Do you have a debug program to connect to the ARM JTAG connectors on JA or JB to be able to download programs from CCS?

  • Thank you very much! Chester.
