MSP-EXP430FR5739: no serial communication...

So heres a quick rundown...

Windows 10
Lenovo Yoga Laptop
Energia 1810E23
Drivers installed, the MSP shows up as the device in Device Manager on COM3

I can upload code to the MSP, blink led, push buttons...etc...

But not a peep from it at all over the serial monitor.
The TX and RX pins are jumpered vertically the same as all the others

My Arduino works fine over the serial monitor

Any suggestions? I know a lecturer of mine had it talking over serial on his tablet when connected.

It just makes no sense...

    Hi Matteo,

    It sounds like something related to a COM PORT setting on your computer, since your lecturer had it working on his tablet.

    What baud rate are you using?  I assume you are using some type of terminal app on your PC - if so which one?  Same as your lecturer?
