MSP-GANG: Error 23 occurs while using the MSP430G2755

Part Number: MSP-GANG
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2755,

Hi experts,

My customer created a board using the MSP430G2755, but it has been unable to write on some boards since an error 23 was displayed.
The customer thinks that the IC has failed, so we have to Please let me check if the writing procedure and the use of the MSP-GANG are correct.

The following is the information that has been confirmed.

  • Error occurs in 7 out of 32 devices.
It seems to be unable to write in spite of the repeated attempts.

  • When the error message appears, writing is being performed in stand-alone mode.
Error 23 was displayed, but it does not appear to have been saved in the photo.
In addition, the error screen in the GUI was not captured, so we are asking for confirmation.

  • The power is supplied from the board, not from GANG.
They input 3.3V to pin 4 (Vextin) on the GANG side and select "External - in range +/-0.3V, Voltage=3.3" on the GUI screen.

  • The connection is based on "Figure 2-2" of MSP430 Hardware Tools User's Guide (Rev. AF).
Only C3 has a different element value. The schematic is shown below.

  • The version of MSP-GANG(Hardware) is 1.02.
The version of GUI is under checking.

  • The writing procedure is as follows.
Board power on -> GANG power on -> Writing -> GANG power off -> Board power off

  • The connector length between the GANG and the board is 10cm.

We are currently asking the customer to confirm that they can connect the board with CCS or GUI.
Could you tell us what else we should check and if there are any problems based on the current information?

Best regards,
O.H
