MSP430FG4617: Connecting DVCC pins

Part Number: MSP430FG4617

Hi there!

I'm designing the PCB layout for MSP430FG4617 microcontroller and I have a silly question (or maybe not).

I'm connecting DVCC pins (pin 1 and pin 60) separately from my source but I wonder if they also should be connected together. For example, with a new trace below de uC that connects pin 1 and pin 60.

Is this necessary?

Also, I'm using 8mil trace by default. It's recommended to use wider traces for DVCC since supply it's only 3.6V?

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Pedro.

  • Hi Pedro,

If you are connecting DVCC pins 1 and 60 from the same source, there is not a need to connect pin 1 and 60 together with a trace.

8mil seems a bit thin for power trace, but would probably work.  For minimal impedance, I recommend using wider trace width.  If board space allows, I like to use 20mil trace width for power traces.
