MSP430FR2100: eUCSI bit duration calculations

Part Number: MSP430FR2100

I'm having trouble following the formulas for the RX bit period of the MSP430FR2100 UART.

I find that the formulas given in SLAU445I page 588 are confusing and seem like they contain errors (see image)

Can someone provide me with formulas that are easier to understand?

  • Hey Ross,

Thanks for pointing this out.  Honestly, I don't follow these equations exactly, but I know that in this equation, the 3 main terms in order are: Sync error, Baud clock error (per bit), and finally, the 1/2 Baud Clock error (for trying to sample in the middle of the bit period while receiving.)

So, I think after for the bottom equations after "Where:",  the first should actually be defining the undefined term above, and should actually read  "T_bit,RX[j] = xxx"   I'm not sure how the M_UCBRFx summation subs back in.

Where you able to figure these out for what you needed?  If so, can you give me some feedback on how to make these clearer and I can submit document feedback via the link in the datasheet.

    Thanks,

    JD
