MSP-EXP430FR2433: MSP-EXP430FR2433 does not seem to work

Hi Carlos,

When the message indicates that a FW update is needed, you should allow it to update.  This will update the FW on the eZ-FET debugger.  If you allow the update, do you still get the error?

Thanks for the quick reply. I did allow it to update multiple times, since the message does state that it may take several cycles, but after over 10-15 times, I figured something must be wrong.

On the update, the ezFET side starts blinking red and green, then turns on the green LED for about 3 seconds and then goes back to the red LED and asks for another update cycle.

I am curious if this could be an issue with the PC or CCS installation.  If possible, can you try on another PC and/or uninstall CCS and reinstall?

I'll try it out this afternoon in a different PC.

Although the PC I'm currently using, works well with the MSP-430UIF with my custom board, with CCS on the same version (which I just updated to the latest). 

I'm working with an MSP430FR5738, And I bought the FR2433 Launchpad to start porting the peripherals to the FR2433, to get a lower cost solution, and also to use the second UART for a manufacturing console to facilitate testing.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I was also thinking, could it be something with the board, specifically the Voltage sensing on the EZFet, or the voltage regulator to 3.3? 

Where can I test that? Maybe a soldering pad on a resistor divider, or something?, since the error is that it could not set Vcc...

Maybe I can check some voltage points and see if something may be wrong?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Just tried it on a different computer, a desk top this time, and I get the exact same result. It blinks red an green during the update, then goes green for 3-4 seconds and then turns red and stays there.

You can find the LED status in section 5.8.3 of the users guide below.  From the solid red LED, it sounds like there was an error during the update.  It may have been over current from the target.  If you power the device externally, are you able to see if there is excessive current consumption?

Hi Eddie, It is a new board, and it had nothing connected to it, so any excessive current would have to be internal to the board. There's no additional device to power externally other than the Launchpad.
