EVM430-I2040S: default firmware

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer have the following issue: couple of months ago he have purchased MSP430I2040 Sub-meter EVM v1.2, and after some test failure, have erased default code and cannot find default firmware from TI website. Where can he find the default software + bin file for it?

    Hi Art,

    We recommend that customers use the Energy Measurement Design Center (EMDC) GUI and software library for all new designs. There are several EMDC projects and binary images for the EVM430-i2040S that get installed with EMDC. They can re-program their board using the MSP-FET and UniFlash (binary image) or CCS (after importing EMDC-generated project).

    Please have them check that they did NOT erase INFO memory. If so, the device-specific TLV data may have been lost, which makes the device unusable.

    Hello James,

    Customer have already tried to flash some default images to the EVMi2040, however after flashing the image he cannot see any results from the development board. LED indicators are working but he cannot receive any message from uart.

    Is there any old firmware available? or a guideon  how to use emdc with EVMi2040?

    For EMDC, the UART connection requires a USB HID bridge (using MSP430F5529 LaunchPad) connected to the J6 header rather than the isolated RS-232 connector. For more details, see the Design Center GUI > Out-of-Box Experience > Make the Hardware Connections section in the latest EMDC Technology Guide, found on the MSP-EM-DESIGN-CENTER page.

    If they'd like to use the old firmware, it is still available on the TIDM-SERVER-PWR-MON page. Keep in mind it's IAR-based and changes to simple parameters like the sampling frequency are harder to make compared to EMDC.
