MSP430FR2355: Inquiry

Part Number: MSP430FR2355

Hi,

Good day. I hope you are doing well.

Our customer has an inquiry regarding the MSP430FR2355. Can you please provide us your inputs? Kindly see below.

""I am designing around the MSP430FR2355 and don't have hardware yet to experiment with. I am going to be using SAC0 and output for SAC0 OA0O will be processed by ADC channel A1.My question is about SAC0 OA0O, will the output visible on P1.1 when A1 is used?

in other word, can I probe P1.1 to see what the ADC input expects?

One question related to clock on the same device.
Can the MSP430FR2355 work without any Cristal nor oscillator and rely only on the internal clock and PLL?""

Thank you.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Hello Cedrick,

"I am going to be using SAC0 and output for SAC0 OA0O will be processed by ADC channel A1.My question is about SAC0 OA0O, will the output visible on P1.1 when A1 is used?"

Yes, this can be done.  Table 6-63 shows the Port P1 Pin Functions and when P1SELx is 11, P1.1 it will output the OA0O, A1 signal.  You can probe it.  If you were chaining this to another SAC block, you could also add an external filter cap here if needed.

"Can the MSP430FR2355 work without any Cristal nor oscillator and rely only on the internal clock and PLL?"

Yes, the MSP430FR2355 doesn't require a crystal and can use it's internal REFO oscillator to drive the DCO FLL.  Obviously the Clock frequency isn't as accurate without an external crystal source, and this is shown in table 5-5, DCO FLL, Frequency in the Datasheet.

    Thanks,
