Compiler/MSP430FR2633: Use MSP430FR2633 with arduino

Part Number: MSP430FR2633

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Hey,

So I am trying to use the MSP430FR2633 with an arduino and I was just wondering how I can use this micro controller to pull raw capacitive touch data through one of the cap pins. I am trying to gather the data over i2c with the arduino but I am not sure where to start. Do I need the developer kit at all to allow the micro controller to send i2c info to an arduino? What libraries are needed in the arduino code?

Hope you can help.

  • Hi Ameen

Have you try the DATA LOG function in the CDC to get the raw captivate touch data?

    Best regards
    Gary

    Hey Gary,

No, what exactly is the CDC? I have not purchased the development kit, is that something I need for the micro controller or to do this?

    Best,

    Ameen

    Update:

I downloaded the CDC however I am not sure how to have the micro controller recognized via an arduino.

  • In reply to Ameen Kishta:

Your easiest bet would be to use the UART to talk to the Arduino over serial. You may need a level translator if you are using a 5 V arduino.

    Hi Ameen

The CDC I mentioned is the Captivate design center you can get it from(software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html )
The latest version should be 1_70_00_03
To use the CDC you should have a Captivate programmer (www.ti.com/.../captivate-pgmr )
And if you connect the MSP430FR2633 with the Captivate programmer and use a micro USB wire to your computer you can get the lots of data of the Captivate you want(Down load the code that generate by the CDC and add your application code to the msp430fr2633 first )
For more information you can refer to software-dl.ti.com/.../ch_designcenter.html
