PIN Description Regarding MSP430F47X

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F479

Hi,

I have read about the MSP430F47X series Mixed signal micro-controller in this link http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/msp430f479.pdf.

1) But I am not able find the PIN Name & PIN type information for D5 and L2. Please Provide those information,

2) C2 & C3 pins are having same PIN name as "P2.0/TA2/S1" But in datasheet the reason behind this is not mentioned. So I request you to please explain the reason..

With Warm Regards,

  • The answer for C2/C3 was already given in a different thread: the two are internally connected and the duplicate is just to avoid an unconnected pin. You can use either one or both. It may even help you with your layout.

    D5 doesn’t exist (as well as D6-D8). L2 doesn’t exist too (and L11 and B11).

It’s clearly shown in the “pin designation” on page 3 of the datasheet. So the pin function is N/C and the pin type is “absent”.

  • Thanks for you reply.  Can you please give the link of some other threats related to  C2/C3 pin information.

Your are telling that D5, D6-D8, L2, L11&B11 are not exist. But in page number 9 of Datasheet they mentioned these pins as RESERVED pins except D5 & L2. And they suggested to Connect reserved pins to DVSS or AVSS. There is no clear information about D5 and L2. Thats why I am asking this question.

  • The datasheet shows these pins in grey, so they are unused pin positions. I don’t know whether the package still has the balls. Sounds stupid (unless required for thermal distribution, which is rather unlikely for MSPs), but I’m not familiar with BGA.

Regarding C2/C3, I was partly mistaken. The other thread was talking about the MSP430F241x in BGA113 package. However, same pins, same question, likely same answer:
