MSP430F5529, USB LAUNCHPAD or CC3200-LAUNCHXL with 430BOOST- ADS1118 BoosterPack

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200-LAUNCHXL, ADS1118, CC3100, MSP430F5529, CC3200

Hello,

I would like making a solution with the 430BOOST-ADS1118 BoosterPack (thermocouple); sending data over WiFi into the Cloud and battery powered (2xAA with battery holder).

I'm hesitating between using:

1. CC3200-LAUNCHXL + 430BOOST-ADS1118 BoosterPack

In the CC3200-LAUNCHXL documentation I read there's an option to connect a battery holder + 2x AA batteries directly to the board.

- Can I use the ADS1118 BoosterPack with the CC3200-LAUNCHXL?

- If yes, are the 5V batteries sufficient for operating the C3200-LAUNCHXL + ADS1118 BoosterPack?

or

2. MSP430F5529, USB LAUNCHPAD + CC3100 BoosterPack (for WiFi) + ADS1118 BoosterPack

I suppose this combination will work; however how can I battery power this combination?

Thanks.

The 2x AA batteries will supply 3V when fresh, and the CC3200 LaunchPad users guide says the launchpad will work until the battery voltage drops to about 2.3V.

The ADS1118 will operate with a voltage from 2V to 5.5V.

Therefore, the C3200-LAUNCHXL + ADS1118 BoosterPack combination should work on 2x AA batteries.
