Hi,

I have bought mod-pulse oximeter (http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-EKG-PULSE).
As a programmer I use JTAG LPT. I use LPT-USB adapter to connect the board with laptop.
Operating system: Win 8
Programming environment: Code Composer Studio v6.1.2
I am trying to debug built-in project which blinks LEDs but I receive error as below:

After connecting the LPT cable to laptop the msp-board can be seen in device manager as:

Any ideas/suggestions?

Hi Bartosz!

The combination of an USB-2-LPT adapter isn't a solution for this. These adapters normally only transmit signals to the printer and work only for printing. The support for the quite old LPT FET has ended. Better get a newer MSP-FET or at least the older grey one from eBay or whatever. If you only need programming without debugging you can also think about using BSL.

What if I use Win xp and some older version of CCS? Do you think my equipment will work?

An older version of CCS would support the LPT FET, but the hardware issue with the USB-2-LPT adapter might still prevent proper operation. I don't know if there are adapters available that support full LPT functionality, maybe. So before being frustrated again I would think about switching over to a real USB FET.

Only with "native" LPT port - on PC motherboard or PCI adapter. So you shall find not only old operating system but old computer too. Cheaper to get just LaunchPad or MSP-FET

USB-LPT adapters do not work with chip programmers. period.

Hi All,

In fact I have PC with LPT port. I successfully connected my board with PC via mentioned JTAG programmer.
OS: Win XP, CCS version: 4.

Hi Bartosz!

Great to hear it works. Just for clearance: Did you connect the programmer directly to the LPT port or in combination with your USB-2-LPT adapter?
