TIDA-00979 debug problem

Hi all,

When I am debugging a program I am getting the following message. What might be the chances for data bytes not being written?

PS: All input voltages and hardware setup has been verified correctly.

Message:

MSP430: Loading complete. There were 3732 (code) and 0 (data) bytes written to FLASH/FRAM. The expected RAM usage is 370 (uninitialized data + stack) bytes.

Hi Ahavmb,

It appears that your code stores all data as variables as compared to macros (#define) which are stored in RAM instead of FLASH. This is a perfectly valid setup and there is no issue with the build message shown. Are you having issues when debugging the code? Was this code provided by TI or did you create it yourself?

Hi Ryan,

I fixed it there was delay change, also it is stored in RAM as you said no idea why it is not stored on FRAM which is 64K which is way more sufficient. Thank you very much for the quick response.

The message "MSP430: Loading complete" about the expected memory usage reported in the CCS console is supposed to be just informational, rather than being an error. The memory (RAM) usage reported by that message is incorrect, see CCS Shows way to much expected ram usage in console window after build, and so best to just ignore the message.

If you want to determine the actual amount of memory used by the program, the work around is to look at the memory usage in the linker map file, or using the CCS Memory Allocation view.

If data bytes had not been written, CCS would have reported a data verification error.
