MSP430F5510: MSP430F55xx Device Erratasheet PORTxx

Part Number: MSP430F5510
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5515

Hi,

There are some problems for MSP430F5510 related to port state (not high-z) during reset / startup (PORT16 and PORT30) in slaz301s, without workaround. There are present from first erratasheet til now (Rev C), like almost all others (4 years at least). If this (at least PORTxx problem) will be resolved ever?

There is MSP430F5515 related slaz304t erratasheet document. There is PORT16, with note This erratum does not affect the smallest package device variants in a particular device family. There is only one package MSP430F5515IPN LQFP80. Smallest device in family is 64-pin. So, it is affected?

Regards

  • Hello,

As far as fixing errata when it comes to a device, when a new device revision is planned, each erratum is looked at to see if it is feasible to be fixed in the new revision. These decisions are made on a case by case basis at the planning stage of a new device revision. I cannot say when a new revision of these devices will be done and if a fix for this particular errata would be included or not in that revision.

As for clarification of PORT16 erratum, this erratum is family wide and is thus described that way. So all packages of the family must be accounted for. This means the erratum affects all 80 pin packages, but does not affect the 64 pin package variant. Since the MSP430F5515 only comes in the 80 pin PN package, it is affected by this erratum.

I think that output logic zero / one on port pins during boot is big issue, and I am 100% sure if someone didn't find it feasible to be fixed in last 4 years, unfortunately will stay like this.

Thank you for clarification. All 25 MHz 5xx USB devices in package with non-minimum pins are affected. And only solution is to use extra lvc125 gates on board.
